Just like other types of goldfish, the Telescope Goldfish produces quite a lot of waste products and should not be kept in less than 10 gallons of water. There is also a beautiful, but rare, Telescope Goldfish variation that is chocolate coloured with orange pompons. The black and white combination is often referred to as Panda Telescope Goldfish. Today you can find red, white, red/white, black/white, calico coloured, tri-coloured, chocolate and bluescale Telescope Goldfish. The Telescope Goldfish comes in many different colours and sizes, but all Telescope Goldfish have the protruding eyes and the long and flowing fins in common. The fish should have long and flowing fins, and the caudal fin comes in several variations: normal Oranda tail, broadtail, veiltail and butterfly. The body depth of a Telescope Goldfish should ideally be larger than 2/3 of the body length. Regardless of the shape of the eyes, they should always be equal in size and protrude outwards.Ī Telescope Goldfish has an egg-shaped body with a double caudal fin. Just like the name suggest, flat eyes are somewhat flattened at the top. The dome shaped eyes are wider at the base of the eye and becomes narrower at the top. Some Telescope Goldfish have round eyes that look like they are about to float away from the fish, while others have more than half of the eye attached to the head. The round eyes can be found in various degrees of attachment to the head of the fish. The dome shaped eye, the flat eye and the simple, round eye. ![]() There are three acceptable eye-shapes for the Telescope Goldfish. The Telescope Goldfish is known by several other names as well, such as Globe Eye Goldfish, Dragon Eye Goldfish and the Japanese word Demekin. ![]() all of your fish will spend all or much of their time at the bottom. The Telescope Goldfish derives its name form its large and protruding eyes. They prefer to school, but remember the safe zones. So with 4 you can get away with 3 - 6 Panda Cory. The rest to your taste of course! That's one of my Pandas as my avatar pic. sometimes a tri-color almost calico even. just try to get from reputable sources & better quality food to lessen the chances of them all losing their colors! Many places will sell Moors as Pandas but they're not. You and I think the same way! I have Panda Moors and wanted to add Panda Cory, yes you can do it if your careful and willing to do the extra work:ġ) Find the longfin (pricier but get bigger) wild caught variety which are accustom to sub-tropical temperatures which means:Ģ) A decent heater set at about 22C - 23C (72F - 73.5F)ģ) Both Goldfish & Cory are constant foragers so you need to either spread food all around ensuring the catfish eat (sinking / gel foods) or have a spot only the cats can reach and feed them there - you DO NOT want to try to compensate by simply over feeding (Never allow goldfish to eat up top, risk of swallowing air - even soak flakes for a few min and pour in from cup) I add some soaked flakes as a diversion since they will not sink to the bottom right away, the more aggressive eaters will swim about snatching allowing more of the sinking to reach the bottom for the less aggressiveĤ) As part of above give more areas only your cats have access to hide in case of stress & simple security, smaller caves & more plant coverĥ) Ensure your tank is fully cycled/established, it may take you a bit to find those wild caught pandas anywayįinally, get your Moors first and if your into the Panda thing then may suggest doing same as me.
